Ebor Fitness

Have been using Ebor this week whilst in the city on holiday, visiting early morning to get my training in. A whole lot of kit packed into a small but perfectly formed space, geared primarily to strength training but with a reasonable selection of cardio machines. Equipment is of various ages but everything I wanted to use was in good nick, save for the rowing machine which has seen better days and needs its sensor replacing. Clientele mainly blokes but of varying ages and builds - I'm not exactly massive but did not feel out of place. Staff friendly. Day pass and weekly membership prices for those of us just visiting were reasonable. Gents changing room and showers, upstairs on the first floor, were nice and clean, which is always the main thing, but the main door opens straight out onto the stairwell (from which most of the room is visible) and the doors to the shower stalls are just inside said changing room entrance. You therefore need, unless you're possessed of a devil may care attitude to nudity, to be very careful not to flash passers by, bearing in mind that the ladies' facilities are located a little further down the landing. The showers themselves need a little maintenance: the first one I tried was basically a tap rather than a spray; the second had no time delay on the push button which meant it had to be held down continuously to work - a manageable nuisance whilst you're facing it, but resulting in contortions when you're wanting to give your back and arse a proper wash. The gripes aside, however, a good, clean and well equipped gym which seems to be run and used by the right kind of people. Would give 4.5 stars if the rating were available.
