I’ve been a member of this gym on and off for the past 16 years — back when it was Fitness First, it was brilliant. Unfortunately, since the new management took over, the quality and maintenance have gone drastically downhill. The changing rooms are consistently dirty, and in the ladies’ section, half the machines don’t work. The treadmills that do work often have faults. When I rejoined a few months ago, the sauna was “out of order,” and I was told it would be fixed soon — six months later, it’s still out of order. When I’ve tried to raise these concerns with staff, I’m met with shrugs and “it is what it is.” For a gym charging £26 a month, that’s simply not acceptable. Other gyms in the same price range, like JD and PureGym, maintain much higher standards. There are also basic facilities that have been neglected: no hairdryers for women anymore, showers that take ages to warm up (if at all), and fewer working showers due to boarded-off sections. To top it off, yesterday there was a bucket in front of the ladies’ gym to catch a leak. The only reason I rejoined was because of the 24/7 opening hours, but at this point, convenience isn’t enough to justify the poor experience. I really hope management takes this feedback seriously and restores the gym to the standards it once had.

My sister and I were staying in an air b&b for the night and just wanted a day pass for a gym with no hassle, what we found was such a gem! Alec greeted us and was so welcoming. The place was huge with a well equipped ladies only section, a big mixed area upstairs and some more free weights downstairs. The changing rooms were also massive and very clean. Everyone was very friendly and it was just good vibes all round. They said they’re getting a refurb soon also. If we’re ever in the area again we will be sure to go back!
