PureGym Newport Wales

Having read the reviews, I didn't think I was going to like it here but decided to give it a chance. I spent a good three hours there on my first day. I didn't particularly like the fact you have to download the app and get the pin or QR code by paying first if a non-member just to get through the door. I forgot to bring a padlock with me but the one member of staff who was there kindly let me use the secure room next to the office to keep my stuff safe. The equipment works great, its spacious enough that no one is in each other's way *cough*(unlike Nuffield health in Cwmbran)*cough* The only criticism I have is yes the toilets in the men's changing room do smell a bit, there should be more staff available, the weights all seem to be in the wrong order and could only find one '10 kg' and having to use the QR code just to get in and out is annoying, especially if your phone has run out of battery. Other than that no issues. *edit* the app does actually show the pin to get in under the qr code. My advice is its best to make a note of this offline incase the app is down or whatever

Gym is fine but the changing rooms are shocking and all the machines have trash on them. About 20% of lockers are usable, if they're not taken. It's filthy, with people's garbage everywhere, and the local morons seem to think it's a suitable place to hang out, chat and eat lunch... I guess it's fun to have balls in your face while you chow down on school sandwiches. Idiots. The worst part of an ok gym.
