Not as clean or well-maintained as expected – disappointing experience overall I’ve been attending the UPSU Gym 4–5 times a week for several months, mainly because it’s conveniently located near my workplace. While the staff are friendly and create a welcoming gym community, the cleanliness and maintenance standards are far below acceptable, especially for a university facility. Despite what older photos on Google Maps suggest, the gym today looks very different — worn out machines, dusty equipment, dirty mirrors, and stretching mats with stains that remain uncleaned for days. The cardio and cable machines often have dust, hair, and even nail clippings, and mirrors haven’t been cleaned in over 6 weeks. Some equipment is held together with black tape, which pulls hair and causes scratches during use. It’s disappointing to see such a great space neglected. I’ve raised a formal complaint, and although I’ve received a polite response, many of the claims don’t match reality. I strongly suggest management visit the gym floor personally to see the actual conditions. Until real changes are made, I cannot recommend this gym — especially not for those who value hygiene and safe equipment.

Unfortunately, this gym falls short when it comes to both hygiene and equipment maintenance. The men’s showers have a strong, unpleasant odor of urine, which becomes very noticeable when pulling the curtains to step in. Several leg machines have torn seats that are crudely patched with masking tape — an uncomfortable and unsafe “fix” that can even pull at your skin or hair if you’re wearing shorts. A few other machines are unstable and make worrying noises during use, raising concerns about safety. The lack of proper maintenance and cleanliness makes this facility a poor choice for anyone looking for a professional and well-kept environment.
