The lake is lovely, with carp and swans, however that was about it. We arrived late (around 8 or 9 PM) in fairness, and there was nobody around. The only person who was around seemed to be a farm worker, who wanted nothing to do with us. We couldn't find the toilets in the dark, even with our head torches. So just went to bed and hoped things would improve by morning. We went for a wander around the grounds in the morning, still couldn't see any signage for toilets or showers. Luckily, just as some people were packing down their tent, we asked them and they told us where to go. Only to find 1 shower and 2 toilets, very basic. There was no signage for the washing up, happened to see a sink covered in cobwebs with sponges covered in snail trails and opted for that. With nobody else around, instead of the place feeling surreal to have the lake to ourselves, it felt eerie. We didn't feel comfortable, weren't impressed with the basic facilities that didn't seem to be maintained at all, and opted to leave after 1 night.

Couldn’t recommend enough. We were left to our own devices completely, able to play music quietly in the evenings round of a fire. Even had a little spot to cook under when it rained as well as a hot shower and toilets. The site itself is so tranquil, bats flying around in the evening, a lake to swim in and big pitches so no overcrowding. Meet Mike as we were leaving, seems like a really lovely guy and you could tell he’d put a lot of effort into creating somewhere so peaceful. Also thank you to the lovely north London chap who worked there and helped us get wood.
