Longwell Green Leisure Centre

Even though we are quite far away from the centre, we decided to sign our biys for swimming lessons. That was almost a year ago. We had two boys who were scared to go into the pool and now we have two crazy swimmers who love being in the water. The teachers are great (Lily and Anne-Marie). As far as the lessons are concerned, they are very well structured and fun. The pool in clean as are the changing rooms. A+ The only thing that isn't going quite well is booking family swim sessions. We struggle to do it online but we're refused to be booked in person. Thumbs down here. Otherwise, a great place.

My child started swimming lessons here and I wish I never bothered. He is not scared of the water but was nervous about going in to the class. The teacher did absolutely nothing to help re assure him and when he tried to hold her hand I noticed she tried to let go when she could. Disappointed is not the word, I only went twice and a lot of the swim staff were different both times. This teacher in particular was young and I’m struggling to understand why she is a teacher for young (first class) children when she has 0 empathy. Please take your children somewhere else if you think they will need any sort of support. My son is now saying he doesn’t like water. Lessons have done the opposite to what they should. Also not enough space if you want to watch your child as the parents whose older children are in the larger pool all cram in to the same area where the younger children are to watch. Reception lady was lovely and that’s about the olny positive I have.
