Holiday Inn Express Taunton East by IHG

Very clean hotel and spacious room. Towels thread bare but other than that, great room. Holiday in express cooked breakfast is dire, awful cheap sausages that leave a powdery feeling in the mouth and pre-made scrambled eggs. Nice bacon and croissants though. Service friendly, but limited interaction due to hotel style/offering as expected.

Room was nice, 4 of us in room was a bit of a squeeze. Room was dirty in places (marks on curtains, marks on towels and cobwebs) but beds were comfortable, clean and plenty of decent pillows. Shower was nice and the dove shower gel & shampoo is a nice touch. Free breakfast was yummy and plenty. We brought our dog and was still all able to have breakfast together but just a bit further away which was really appreciated. Main downside was, even though we booked for 4 (2adts & 2 chd) the room was set up for 2. Only 2 sets of towels and mugs. Reception were funny about giving extra towels and refused to give an extra mug which wasn't appreciated when paying nearly £100 a night. Very close to M5 and restaurants, shops and petrol very nearby. Staff were very friendly and so were guests, would stay again
