This hotel is like a 1970s tower block in Eastern Europe. Decor is dated and room/ bathroom is dirty in places. Its been several years since I've seen artex on ceilings not to mention the polystyrene ceiling tiles! Windows don't open properly and air conditioning doesn't work well making the room too hot to sleep in. The 'swimming pool' is more like a paddling pool - advertised as 15m, but only suitable to swim in about 5m due to shallow depth. The pool/ leisure area was the reason we booked this place so felt very short changed about what we feel was false advertising. The leisure area not pleasant or relaxing with several guests having loud conversations on mobiles and one applying very smelly ointment in the steam room - yuk! Booking stated we had executive lounge access, but this was not offered at the location or details given at reception. Oppressive and unpleasant building and atmosphere with noise coming from external air conditioning units outside the room which is particularly annoying given how bad the in room air con is. Overall a sub standard experience , nowhere near 4 star in my opinion and we couldnt wait to leave!!! Would have addressed with reception but already had to raise the issue of being given a cheaper room than we paid for upon arrival and had lost the will to engage further with them. I'm usually a fan of IHG hotels but this is the worst one I've stayed in, certainly worse than most Premier inns I've stayed in. On a positive note location is great... that's about all. There must be better places in Plymouth - would advise you to look at other options before booking. We won't be back.
