From the outset the grounds and main building are beautiful, followed by a really lovely older lady on check in which to be fair was the highlight of our stay, she was simply wonderful. From there it was less pleasing, but I can't be too critical as all in all it was fine. The breakfast was ok, although it lacked a few items I'd have enjoyed as the cooked breakfast was served in Bain Marie's as opposed to cooked to order. You have to pay extra for a flat white (which ok I agree with had it been any other time of the day, but it should come as part of breakfast at no extra cost). The breakfast area is in the bar and in the bistro all of which have windows overlooking the lovely scenery, but none of the tables were placed in the windows and it was lined up like a school dinner hall, we of course done some DIY and moved our table in to the window (as you can see in the photos) to the delight of some staff but to the dismay of others (one staff member in particular but it's not worth going there, as unlike the others she seemed as though she was there for the money and to get home as quickly as possible) The rooms too are basic and lacked essentials such as a fridge, bottle opener, fresh milk etc. Little attention is paid to the cleanliness as we found the room to have cup ring residue on the surfaces and quite dusty. views were a "woodland" view which I don't really have an opinion on but would have preferred more of the rolling hills view. It was comfortable don't get me wrong and I guess you get what you pay for (and what's available). The worst part of this is the leisure facilities in particular the pool and changing rooms (popped my head in the gym which looked good and had some good equipment) but the pool area was very dirty and NOTHING worked. This area needs serious attention as it really let's the rest of the place down. I spoke to someone who was a member and I asked is it always like this and he said yes, and they are going to leave as it's been like that for months, despite multiple requests from members to fix the place up and get everything in working order.I would have put 4 stars had the full experience have been there but by no means is it a 4 star hotel. The staff were all pleasant and helpful so I guess theres not really any room for improvement there. So all in all I've had to give this 3 stars. I would of course come back if the facilities were to be improved.

Absolute gem in the countryside near Bath. The welcome by John was friendly and efficient and he escorted us to our room. We had a garden terrace room away from the main house and we were very impressed. The views spectacular. The walk to the main house was less than 3 mins but you do need to be mobile due to steps. The steps are not steep or high steps so manageable. The staff were knowledgeable and welcoming Introducing locally sourced produce including beers and gins. Food exceptional. Perfect break... inc driving range tennis courts swimming pool and spa... even classes to join all free to guests... Fantastic place.... downside....hmmmm prices not evident.. when adding items to your room.
