Yugo Catherine House - Portsmouth Student Accommodation

Honestly the worst accommodation I have ever encountered. Absolute scam. It’s rarely ever cleaned. My lift has been broken in D block for over a week bear in mind, it is a 11 story building. The staff clearly are paying no mind to tenants who have disabilities. People have made so many complaints to staff but they seem not to care. There is a silverfish infestation probably due to the lack of hygiene regulations. Save your money, you’re better off staying in travelodge.

This place is littered with silverfish; it has been a constant issue this year. The staff are often rude and unhelpful. My key stopped working one afternoon and I asked reception for help and they said in a rather rude and abrupt way to log it with maintenance and wait. I found this odd because usually maintenance requests take 3-5 days to fix and the receptionist didn’t explain that this would be sorted quicker. I still waited 45 minutes to get into my room and this made me late to a lecture. Whenever there are issues with the washing machines the attitude of the staff is that it has nothing to do with them and they can’t help, again in an abrupt way. When the power went out in our flat the receptionist said she couldn’t help and we’d have to move our food into the staff freezer, we later learned it was just a trip switch that the receptionist could’ve switched, a member of security came to fix it for us and told us “the receptionist was just being lazy”. When one of my flatmates was constantly smoking in the flat it wasn’t dealt with appropriately. Two security staff are incredibly rude and did not deal with an issue in our flat appropriately or professionally at all. They stood in our hallway shouting at us and talking over us any time we tried to explain something or ask a question. There was no need for their behaviour when we were trying to have a calm and reasonable conversation with them. Overall, I have had a really unpleasant experience at Catherine House and I cannot recommend it to anyone looking to stay here
