First of all, I feel some personal information is needed. This will be brief. (if you’re just looking for key points of information about the gym, they our set up as bullet points further down) Three years ago, I was nineteen stone and eating my feelings away instead of dealing with them in a healthy way. I made the change to start working out at home and eating better. I has been a long and difficult road. I have in those three years been working out at home buying free weights to train however I hit a wall. I was no longer possible to progress without paying a large amount into equipment so... I did something I was avoiding and joined a gym. Now before I breakdown this gym into some key points I want to be clear that all of my fears and worries about joining a have vanished and I now feels almost silly for having them. The staff at The Gym Group in Gillingham have been nothing but kind and supportive in my transition to using a public gym. -Equipment I have yet to find any exercise or workout I cannot complete at this gym. They have plenty of dedicated machines and free weights along with a studio upstairs and a hyrax section downstairs. Even when there was 96 people using the gym at the same time as me it didn't feel crowded, and I had no problems working out. -Staff very supportive and more than happy to answer any questions. Because of my lack of experience in a commercial gym I have relied on them to show me how to safety use the equipment and save myself from doing it wrong. -classes I cannot believe they are not an addition cost. There are so many options to choose from. I tried out some of the classes thinking "why not as its part of my membership" now they have become part of my workouts each week. -Facilities They have plenty of lockers all over the gym and the changing rooms have more than enough room even when its peek time. They have normal water stations to fill up your bottle from and vending machines with snacks and drinks. cleaning- Now this gym is always in use by members (I also use the gym at 3 am and seen others there) it’s unrealistic to think it going to be perfect all the time because not every person using the gym is clean up a station after using it. In saying all that the staff do a great job at cleaning down the equipment and keeping the place tidying. You will find some plates left here or there but please understand the staff are also teaching classes and doing personal training sessions. Parking- I cannot see you ever having a problem finding a place to park and if you’re worried about crossing there is zebra crossings marks on the road at the main roundabout to get you across. -Price I pay for their most expensive option for a membership, and I personally feel like It’s a complete steal. I also use their hydration stations a well. I cannot believe I don't pay more. I want the gym to start selling merch or something so I can help pay for more equipment and show my support. In conclusion from someone who has never used a commercial gym I have never felt or performed this good before. I don't feel like I'm being jugged, and I feel like I could ask any other member to help spot me or work in with them. This gym is great.
