The Gym Group Brighton Madeira Drive

I joined this gym earlier in the month, the first month + joining fee is taken from a card and from then on the monthly fees are taken via direct debit. I did not realise my bank account was not compatible with direct debit, so the gym contacted to let me know they weren’t able to set up the direct debit. There was nothing in the email about me not being allowed into the gym. When I went to the gym my code had been blocked and I could not enter the gym, despite the fact I had been charged £36 for the month. I rang the assistance buzzer at the door for twenty minutes and nobody responded. I had no access to the gym for the whole weekend and had to wait until the customer service line was open on Monday to ask them to let me into the gym. When I rang the customer service line I explained the situation, the woman then said I have access to the gym until the 6th November. I told her I don’t because I went to the gym two days ago and my code has been blocked. She then yelled at me saying she knows it wasn’t working but that it works now because she just fixed it. They were not apologetic at all about the fact I had been locked out of the gym for three days. I ended up requesting a refund for the first month as I do not want to be in a gym like this, where there is no staff monitoring the gym and that I can be locked out for days for no reason. In regard to the gym itself, the showers are terrible, they have some sensor motion things that only turn on when they feel like it. There’s also no hairdryers, perhaps this is not a thing in the UK, I’m not from here, but I find the idea of bringing a hairdryer with me in my gym bag a bit ridiculous. The gym is also very stuffy and smells bad.
