We had a lovely stay in a really roomy and comfy room. The hotel had recently been renovated and upgraded top-to-bottom, so it was super-smart. There was fast WiFi, an excellent smart TV, and even a high quality coffee-maker with coffee capsules provided too! The beds and bed linen felt high quality, and the bathroom had a pumped shower with immediate hot water for a lovely, strong shower. Checking in and gaining entry was interesting - there was no actual key or key card, we were given a personal access code for the rear and front doors and for our room. Easy to use and v hi-tech, checking in was simply a case of entering our code and walking in. We also reserved a space in the private car park to the rear - the access road was a little tight at the beginning, but we got through OK and the car park was easy to access (also with a code). Our room was at the front and were a bit concerned about comments in earlier reviews re. road noise. The road is certainly busy, but during the recent renovations they replaced the windows with acoustic glass and it seems to have made a big difference and we had no problem relaxing and sleeping. Location-wise, it was a short walk to the town centre. The riverside and park are even closer and made for a lovely stroll in the sun (we were lucky with the weather!). Our room also had it's own fridge and microwave, but the hotel was surrounded by food and drink opportunities and we enjoyed drinks at The Moderation (nice atmosphere), dinner at the Standard Tandoori (great food and v friendly staff), and a delicious breakfast at the Richfields Deli. Overall, a very nice stay in Reading.

My wife has already offered a review, but I just wanted to echo the experience. The secure car parking was excellent, check if you drive something really big, but the ad doesn’t mention there were a couple of free spaces available on the road as well when we were there. I took the photo below because I had decided to add a review at breakfast the next day and hoped it might help someone. I would book parking again next time, but if they were full, I’d check the roadside before going to the station which is really close anyway. Lovely newly renovated place, good shower pressure on first floor is always important to me, good food nearby and an unexpected lovely walk down the river. All round, if you want Reading, hard to think of a more pleasant and better value option that has moved me to do a review - something I rarely do. These people have made an effort👍
