Kings Gym - Brighton

Pros: Brand new materials and new gym with very central location. Modern equipments and use of space is excellent. If you’re into bodybuilding - it is a really good gym. Cons: Overpriced gym for Brighton for the service provided. Since I joined the sauna never opened which has now been over 8 months after management repeatedly mentioned it would be done “next month”. Changing rooms (at least the men’s changing rooms) need to be cleaned thoroughly as there are serious hygiene issues. And lastly, apparently we are not allowed to train/bring bags in the gym for health and safety reasons which is something I never heard before.

I have to be real with this review. There are both pros and cons with this gym experience overall. Firstly, the positives -the equipment is good, very wide ranging weight training offering here - and it’s all new, 6-months. The staff are fine - they’re nice. There aren’t that many of them around. However, there’s no air conditioning - in summer it’s very stuffy and hot inside. The changing rooms are in a poor state, scruffy, broken lockers, and haven’t been touched since the previous tenants left, other than to remove soap from the showers. The sauna and steam room have never opened despite being advertised from the start. There are no classes here. This would be a great place to offer lifting instruction to groups but there’s nada. For the price, it’s on the high side for Brighton given the pretty basic offering.
