Hotwalls Beach

Hot walls and a hot beach set in a sun trap, even on a cold Winter's day. At low tides there is space for a large crowd to welcome warships home and at high tide the top of the walls provide a wonderful viewpoint to wave to returning sailors. But beware jumping off the round Tower or swimming off the beach is not wise as the sea is shallow close inshore and there is strong currents through the harbour mouth. And when big ships go past their wake makes larger waves than you might anticipate which has wet many a picnic! Toilets and parking are just the other side of the walls. The beach can be accessed bay a variety of doorways or stairs and slopes. So yes it is wheelchair accessible but not on the shingle of the beach. Children need to be kept an eye on in rough weather, just in case.
