Since MORE started managing the centre, there are changes for the better but more, in my opinion, for the worse. Gym. Replacing the old machines with new and modern ones is on the plus side and their maintenance is better. However, all the cardio machines - treadmills, bikes, rowers, elliptical machines are now jammed in a small narrow space with poor or no air conditioning. You walk in from the air-conditioned corridor and are hit by warm and stuffy air and a stink of sweat. Now there is no air conditioning in the whole gym. Changing rooms. New showers in the pool changing room and a new coat of paint (already peeling off at places though) in the dry changing - good. However, since the wet changing was closed for refurbishment, the dry changing room is a mess: rubbish and pools of water on the floor everywhere and the toilets are often disgusting. The reaction of one of the ladies at the reception was: “But now people come there from the pool to change!”, implying What do you expect? Well, exactly because of that and because MORE people use the showers and toilets, anyone would expect the staff to mop the floor and clean the toilets MORE often. Also, the hand and hair dryers didn’t work last Monday. Pool. For years before MORE has taken over, the midday lane swimming was available at set times without any problems. Now, nothing is certain, they change the timetable from day to day and from week to week or cancel the sessions altogether in favour of other activities or for unknown reasons. The staff argue that there are morning and evening sessions. Yes, but not everyone is able to do vigorous exercise early in the morning or close to bedtime, and there are people who can only come at their lunch breaks. Besides, it will be dark in the evenings and mornings soon and some people, especially elderly or disabled, may be unable or reluctant to walk or drive to the centre in the darkness. Overall, the centre has the lowest rating of all the public leisure facilities managed by MORE in Oxford. Is it something that should be taken with the city council? Some of the problems, not all though, may be due to the current refurbishment situation, but we are paying the same membership fees while the conditions and services have substantially deteriorated, and the refurbishment is planned for a few more months.

Very miserable changing room conditions. One of my child was not feeling well during lesson and the coordinator reacts poorly without any concern for the child. Apart from that, lessons for my other child were continuously cancelled. The reason is later known as no teacher is available.. then why did they launch the lessons..the manner of reception staff is very poor too
