Gorgeous setting for a picnic pitstop, but I recommend you go equipped... The "Farm shop" is nothing of the sort, and perhaps even more outrageously priced than you'd expect - it's lovely to look around, though, and if you're on a long trip then the Kitchen is definitely worth it - far better than a maccies or BK, though you are going to be paying for the difference, rest assured. There's a decent amount of reliable fairly rapid EV charging at industry standard rates, without a ridiculously large pre-authorisation, which is really nice to see. My car has a 62kw battery, and I rarely do more than top up 25% on the rapid charger, so it's infuriating to have to pay a 45 or 60 quid preauth - especially if the transaction errors and you have to do it twice! Thankfully, Westmoreland chargers not only have a low start fee, but if the connection to the car or the payment update errors, it regonises that and doesn't place a second preauth on the same card. Fantastic coffee, really great -- but with their milk supplier being Mossgiel, and the coffee coming from Thompsons, that'd be hard to muck up. However, they did manage to muck it up in one way... DON'T buy a flat white; ask for a latte in a flat white cup... You'll get the exact same thing, but cheaper. Yes, they've applied vanity pricing to a flat white, charging you more for less. Pricewise the only properly value for money thing you can buy from Cairn Lodge, is....Yep, the aforementioned EV charging. Having said that, you can use the showers for free, and dogs are allowed in the central bit (not the shop or kitchen/restaurant) so there are some positives to outweigh the remortgage-inducing prices.
