Castlewellan Forest Park

We stayed at the campsite here for one night and really enjoyed it. It's a well kept site with good toilet and shower facilities although the toilets were a little bit of a distance from our pitch. The setting is fantastic with lovely scenery, nice forest walks and a large lake with a big castle on the hill overlooking the lake. From the campsite it's a short 10 min walk into the town where you have a supermarket, pubs, food outlets, coffe shops etc. We will be back for a longer stay in the near future and will probably bring bicycles and kayaks to make more use of the facilities here. There's a maze and play area's for kids to enjoy and plenty of space to run around. Definitely worth a visit.

I recently had the most incredible camping experience at Castlewellan Forest Park Campsite, and I can't recommend it enough! From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by how well-maintained the entire park is. The grounds are pristine, with clean and spacious camping areas, and the amenities are nothing short of exceptional. The bathrooms and showers were spotless and cleaned to an unbelievable standard, with staff routinely checking to ensure everything was in perfect condition. What made our stay even more special was the kindness and helpfulness of the park rangers. Every single one we met was friendly, welcoming, and eager to assist with any questions we had. On the morning of our departure, my partner had a lovely conversation with one of the female rangers, who was so kind and attentive. She even took on board our suggestion about installing hot ash bins around the campground—a true sign of how much they care about their guests’ feedback. And the scenery? Absolutely stunning! The peaceful forest setting, combined with views of the beautiful lake and surrounding mountains, made this one of the most picturesque campsites we’ve ever visited. Whether you're a seasoned camper or new to outdoor adventures, Castlewellan Forest Park is an absolute must-visit. Five stars all the way!
