I joined this gym at around 3pm on a Saturday because I specifically wanted to start training that same day. However, it was not made clear during the sign up process that if you join outside staffed hours, you cannot access the gym until someone is there to give you access. That would have been fine if it had been clearly stated, but it was not. I paid £63 to join and then discovered I could not use the gym at all, which was very disappointing. When I emailed to raise the issue, I received a phone call from a staff member (possibly the manager). The way he spoke to me was extremely unprofessional. He was super aggressive, defensive, dismissive, and offered no apology and just told me I was wrong even though I was sitting looking at the sign up info. The call was hostile and not at all helpful. I’m not actually sure why he called me to be honest. It just seemed like he wanted to have a go at someone rather than actually help in any way, it was a total waste of time. Had I been able to cancel immediately after that call and not been tied down for a year, I would not have continued with the membership. I was really shocked at how he spoke to me. The gym itself was okay. Most of the lockers upstairs did not work the entire year I was a member. The hand dryers in the bathrooms are really bad and unlike other (cheaper) gyms I have been to, some common machines for training were not there. When I later emailed to enquire about cancelling at the end of my contract, the responses I received from Mark were blunt, unhelpful, and unclear. After cancellation, my access was cut off earlier than it should have been. I was told my final access day would be the 30th, but it was cut off on the 29th, and I had already paid for access into the following month until 2nd December inclusive. I emailed to question this and request a refund for the days owed or have the days added on, but never received a reply. Aside from this, every other staff member I interacted with in person was friendly and helpful. Overall, I would not return. There are better gyms nearby for the same or lower price with better communication, better equipment availability, and much better customer service.
