What can I say that hasn't already been said? Well let me start with this, there is ample room for walking your dog, fairly large amount of undulating terrain arranged in such a way that simulates a reasonable route around half the perimeter of the services itself. Granted it's not particularly scenic but it's next to a motorway so what do you expect? The rolling hills of Scotland? Furthermore I found the inside of the service station to be exactly as I've come to expect from a services. Unfortunately nothing sets it apart from the others but that's not to say there's anything wrong with it. I had a burger king meal, someone tried to claim it as their own when the number was called out but I can't put that on the service station, the good lady had a wrap from M&S which was likely fine. I've marked the services down a star because I used the wash room and found the smell to be rather pungent, of unrine. Now this isn't uncommon I know and probably expected, I'm willing to review this later on in life when I return. But until then it's a soild 4. Which does put in it my top 10 of services in the UK (northern half) Stay say.

I’ve been asked to elaborate on my rating and in fairness, I should have done so originally. Arriving on a wet busy Twixmas afternoon, the service station was really busy, floors wet, tables needed a clean down and the general feeling was pretty meh. That said, I can imagine on a warm summers day with more people sitting outside it may have an entirely different feeling to the place. But our visit, on this day, was just a bit meh. Long queue to get into the car park to find there were in fact lots of spaces but the layout meant people parking caused tailbacks. Three staff wearing hi vis, apparently there to assist with parking, standing doing nothing. Two on their phones, one standing with a sign stating Spaces Here but not holding it aloft meant no one could see it. The bathrooms were wet and there were papers littered on the floor in the cubicle, with a wet seat and not in the best condition as a result. We’ve all been there, and even hourly checks would have struggled to keep the cloakrooms up to scratch on a wet busy day, and ultimately, it’s down to the users to make an effort. Visited the food shop and grabbed a burger meal (dry burger and bland fries)and staff were pretty indifferent. The service station itself provided a service but it’s a splash and dash, not one I would want to take a break at, particularly compared with others on the same south to north road trip.
