Cracking campsite and very good value. The new showers and toilets are really good. There is Easy access to some great cafes/Restaurants, mostly dog friendly. The nearest Pub the Wine Press is really nice about 15-20 minutes walk

What a great campsite to visit and use to explore the local area. Sited on the land of a family farm, it lies within the Hollingworth Lake Country Park which is, as the Rochdale Borough Council says, a great place to “soak in the stunning scenery; have a picnic; do water sports; discover wildlife in the nature reserve or just enjoy a relaxing walk around the picturesque lake.” All this just 6 country miles from the nearest junction on the M62, at exit 21. The lake is a man-made reservoir for the Rochdale Canal and you can easily cycle or walk round it, less than 5 miles, partly on a level track (with a café on the way), partly on a narrow road and partly through the town of Littleborough. Walking paths and bridleways set off up the surrounding Pennine Hills. The sense of relaxation is the greater for seeing the motorway crossing a viaduct in the far distance, with a line of trucks waiting for the latest tailback to clear. The campsite itself has an interesting history, with two brothers (the third generation to farm here) steadily developing it. Their sister runs the adjacent Dickey Steps Riding School for anyone wanting a lesson or a day ride. The original grass camping ground, ideal for tents and small campervans, has a basic toilet and washing up block, while a new area of spacious hardstanding pitches at the end of the access road gives a real sense of rural peace. The latest addition to the site is a splendid new reception and facilities building, with immaculate toilets and showers accessible to all campers. We were fascinated by the hill behind us, with its many horizontal striations (see photograph), presuming these were formed as the hill grew and the lake deepened.
