Great campsite for visiting Chester. Donkey is great for security and the ducks and pond give it a country vibe. Very friendly welcome and owner available for problems. Only let down by some road noise but not excessive at night. Need £1 for showers but you get plenty of time.

Stayed here in our motorhome for 3 nights as a base to see the sights of Chester (Christmas market) and Liverpool. Chester zoo is not far (3- 4 miles) you can walk this but taxis are available locally. Really lovely, well kept site, owners very friendly and good knowledge of local area, separate shower and toilet which was quaint and clean, with duck pond, and resident donkey on site. Bus stop short walk (approx 300 yards from site) into Chester (not on Sundays) but good taxi services available. We walked into Chester (some partly along a busy road and you had to navigate the footpath in parts, till we reached the bridge over the canal and picked up the flat, pleasant canal path, and ‘bonus’ there is a pub right at the end before going into town (well needed after walking 3.3 miles) There is a pub not far from the site within walking distance along a foot path which does food, the road is quite busy though. If you’re walking in the dark remember a torch. We visited Liverpool by catching the train from bache, but be sure to get the metro saveaway ticket which you can’t get from bache station as we found out, you can get one from Chester station and this gives you access to trains, buses and the Mersey ferry around Liverpool for £6.50 pp (we bought the wrong tickets, but at st James station in Liverpool but they swapped them for us. Looking forward to returning in the summer months.
