West Hall Scout Campsite

We love this place and have been here many times. We visit this place as a group, as I help to run a support group. It's like being in the middle of the country. The area is lined with trees and has fields either side. The lodge is well equipped with a large 6 ring cooker & double oven with a separate electric cooker. There is a large larder fridge and freezer, dish washer, microwave, toaster and hot water boiler for instant hot water. The living area has a wood stove and the camp owners have mountains of wood to burn. There is both large and small fire pits, again, more than ample supply of wood to use. The field is large and we are able to have games if football, treasure hunts, rounders, water games etc. There is a small parking area at the entrance and enough space for around 6 cars outside of the lodge too. There is a marquee and a patio area and this is great for BBQ and outside activities if the weather lets us down as it offers a little bit of protection from wind. There are 9 bedrooms with bunk beds, sleeping up to 36 (8 X 4 and 1 X 2 rooms) and 2 rooms are slightly larger so can fit a blow up bed on the floor if needed. Camping is also an option. There is plenty of space, we regularly have 40+ people here, and are able to cater for them easily too. The shower facilities are also ample with 4 shower rooms all with toilets and an extra cloakroom. The heaters in all rooms are very good. All in all, we always have a great time and is great for getting the kids out in the fresh air. We are returning here nearer Xmas for our Xmas party.

A lovely site amid trees. There's a toilet and wash area, a kitchen area and a few bunkbeds. The site can be rented out for a wedding venue and there's plenty of wildlife around....if your quiet and keep eyes and ears open! It's not open to the public normally, except when they do bonfire night fireworks. A lovely setting for a wedding too. They have a big bonfire and fireworks nearly every year, but it can get very crowded, depending on the weather. Can't recommend it enough.
