Good points: Great gym, good level of equipment, staff are nice and friendly. Women’s only bit is great, 24 hour is convenient. Bad points: Bordering on oversold now it’s sometimes that busy, equipment needs maintenance lots of cracking pads etc now which don’t seem to be being fixed, toilet and changing room cleanliness is really poor probably should have cleaners round the clock, air con is non existent the gym is INCREDIBLY hot. Shouldn’t be feeling hot in a gym in winter. Seen a few similar reviews where response has been ‘speak to a member of staff and let them know about toilet cleanliness’ or ‘ask staff to turn air con down’ but realistically shouldn’t have to do this. Upped their prices by £4 a month recently, I’d expect at least clean toilets 24/7. It’s also not just hot when it’s busy, it’s hot all the time in all areas. Just put the air con on the lowest surely it’s not that difficult? Leaving this review as I’d currently still rate it 4* but it’s going in a bit of a downward trajectory and would love to see improvement.

This is a really good gym, and best I've been to in 25 years. I'm giving 4 star after really wanting to give 5. I'll explain: The variety of machine is amazing, and most good quality hammer strength. I think there are 9 separate dual cable stations on the main floor (heavily used and sometimes difficult to find an empty station.)This isn't the gyms fault, it's the same in all gyms ... people love them. This goes for the lat pull down and 3 cable row stations near the entrance. Difficult to get on, and again I think it's down to a lot of people feeling more comfortable (newbies) in the area than venturing to the play loaded section. Changing rooms at peak times are challenging, and nothing to do with staff I think.... it's the footfall. People claim a locker and think it's theirs to use forever. People leave the toilets in disgusting state, ripping toilet dispenser off the wall. Mess on seats and floors. Customers hygiene is terrible in the changing rooms. The staff do their best but you can't constantly be cleaning up the animals mess. I think it's mostly the students letting it down. Could do with more toilets cubicles in the men's. 2 isn't enough for the size of the place. It's recently got extremely busy on an evening. Almost offputting which I've never felt until the last few weeks. If you're going to have 3 racks of dumbbells I think you need to double up on the dumbbells up to 10kg). Countless times people are waiting about for 6/8/10kg to be free. While 1 person might use 50->60kg once in a while. How about when you sign in via qr code you get allocated a locker? It's difficult because not all phones have nfc reader to open/lock a locker with. I've seen gyms in northumberland use mifare technology via an issued card. I can't fault the staff and job they are doing. Love the gym, the customers let it down though.
