As a wild camper I always did tend to avoid camp sites as a preference. However I (we, fellow wild camping mates) have fallen in love with this place! It is a perfect pitch with fantastic views of the Sea no matter where you pitch. The site is layered back up from the the foot of the mountain for maximum views and accessibility. The site is well protected, gated and security around the clock. It is very safe and well managed. It's the perfect base as well for those of you who like to venture - Swimming in the Sea, swimming in the lakes or rock pools, hiking among the Mourne mountains. This place is so near perfect I have been twice in recent weeks and looking to go again before the end of the month, availability dependent. The nearby town of Newcastle, Co Down is also a great spot for strolling, shopping and even a couple of pints listening to live music if you fancy a night out.

We have just spent two nights at Millstone and it was really lovely. We were the only ones on site, due to it being midweek, the facilities were great, the toilet block houses three toilets, two with showers, there is a third shower room at the back of the block with a separate entrance. All were a great size and very clean. There is an outside kitchen area to do your washing up, it’s surrounded by Aloe Vera so had a very tropical feel about it. The view is beautiful! The campsite is terraced so everyone is able to see the stunning vista. Caroline and Des were wonderful hosts, easily contactable before hand and if we had any questions while we were there. Its location to Newcastle and the surrounding areas is fantastic. Highly recommend, we will be back.
