I joined when it opened, along with my partner. The gym itself is crowded with machines, the lighting manages to be both too dim (generally) and too bright (spotlights) simultaneously. The music is almost always too loud, so you have to turn your own music up to dangerous levels in order to hear it. The changing rooms/toilets aren't available 24/7, and finding smaller weights to add on is frequently an issue. The company is also charging me £4 more a month than other members who signed up at the same time.... And refuses to tell me why. However they have the best yoga instructor once a week.... If they leave, I leave. Staff on site are generally pretty good.... I did have issues accessing the disabled facilities (you have to ask to be let in every time, because apparently having a disability makes you a naughty child?!), with one staff member looking me up and down and asking why I needed to use the disabled toilet.

Facilities: 6/10 Staff: 9/10 Customer service: 2/10 JD Gyms are after short term customers and don't expect you to return. The facilities are alright, considering it is 24 hour, the showers can get a little gross, but with the number of people using them, and the time of day I was using the gym, it doesn't surprise me. I would notice sometime machines would stay in an unclean state for a few days in a row. Anytime I interacted with the local staff, they were helpful and friendly. They were also able to bridge with the various gym personalities. My problem with the company is their customer service. If you have a problem, they don't seem to try and resolve it. They won't treat it case by case. You are not guided to the customer service, you must search for it, and even then, it is email contact only. JD Gyms do not seek to retain customers, they just want to get what they can out of you whilst they have you. Cheap local option, but not a great option.
