I began my tenancy with HOST in August 2024, starting with an en-suite for one month before moving into a studio in the same building. I want to highlight that the facilities themselves are excellent: the rooms are bright with large windows, there is plenty of storage space, and the bathroom water pressure is consistently strong and reliable. In terms of living environment and hardware, HOST does very well. Unfortunately, my overall experience was affected by repeated negative interactions with one receptionist (a blonde lady), whose manner of communication I found highly unprofessional and at times disrespectful. • On September 14, 2024, the date of my scheduled move from the en-suite to the studio, I had just returned from a short trip (Sept 9–13). Early that morning, she knocked on my door very aggressively. When I answered, she spoke in a scolding tone, telling me something like: “You must vacate this room before X o’clock!!!” (I don’t recall the exact time). While I understand she may have intended this as a reminder, the manner in which she spoke made me feel as if I had done something wrong or was being treated as a problem. I was on the phone at the time, and even the friend on the other end of the call commented, “Who was that? Why is she speaking to you in that way? You shouldn’t let anyone talk to you like that.” • On another occasion, when I went to collect a parcel, she happened to be outside reception smoking. After confirming I was there to pick up my package, she suddenly said in an accusatory tone: “I sent you an email—you should have replied! This is about the Friday viewing for your room.” This left me feeling very uncomfortable. I am a paying resident, not an employee obligated to respond instantly to management’s convenience. While I always check my emails, I don’t believe it is fair or professional for staff to demand immediate responses or to speak to tenants as if they were subordinates. • Finally, regarding my move-out, my tenancy contract clearly stated that my final day was September 6, 2025. However, in early August, when I was simply picking up a parcel, I was once again approached and asked: “When can you return your keys earlier? We need time to clean because someone wants to move into your room sooner.” This repeated pressure to leave before the contractual end date was unreasonable… However, my experience was significantly undermined by the unprofessional behavior of one receptionist…
