If I could give this establishment a black hole instead of one star I would do. I have never known such shambolic organisation and blame shifting in my life. Like many others I joined full of optimism, fitter and leaner.....yup that sounded good to me. Warning bells should have sounded when the girl on reception entered my details and nearly double charged me, thankfully I was keeping a close watch and prevented this. No receipt was given as apparently the YMCA computer is incapable of printing off receipts. Ignoring the dubious state of the changing rooms, lockers that did not accept the YMCA locker token, and the tepid shower pressure I decided to close my eyes to the warning signs and stick with it. I booked three times for an induction session to design my leaner and fitter programme. Three times I booked this at the reception and three times I turned up to be told there was no record of my booking or the computer was down. No one had the commonsense to write down on paper (yes...pen and paper that old fashioned notion) the bookings for the day. It is obvious that no one on the YMCA staff have the most basic notion of customer care, no empathy, no one suggested an alternative. I was met with a wall of, 'I didn't make the booking, I can't help you.' Or....just talk over the customer and pretend that nothing is the fault of the YMCA. The final kicker was having to pay two months fee before I am free of this bunch of amateurs, I was never told this when I joined...surprise surprise... The reception seems to be staffed by series of young ladies, more chance of seeing a Beatles reunion than the elusive manager appearing. When I closed my membershp in person I was told that there were no managers on the premises. So what happens in the event of an accident, incident, or injury? No management on the premises (04/07 to be precise), how can the management be so incompentent? I feel sorry for those YMCA staff who genuinely care as it's obvious the management doesn't. Still....keep paying those membership fees as that's all the YMCA care about, certianly not the customer.
