Sherwood Castle Holiday Forest

Amazing stay at liv retreats Sherwood forest. Very friendly staff like Donna, she was brillant. Made our stay very welcoming. Kids had great time at swimming pool, pool table, badminton and playing tennis. Our hot tub was great and out cottage was very clean with everything which made our stay even great.

We booked 2 nights at Sherwood Castle Holiday Forest after staying in a small pod at their park in Norfolk last August. Our Sherwood Forest chalet was more spacious and had 2 rooms, so could definitely accommodate kids or another couple - we stayed in Harmony 29. After reading mixed reviews, we weren't sure what to expect but our September stay was fab! We were allowed to check in a little earlier than 4pm, and the both staff members when we checked in and out were lovely. The grounds were quiet due to the time of year, however it was perfect for a couple who were after a quiet break. The chalet was clean and warm, the bedding was clean and comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed for a 2 night stay. At first we weren't sure about the placement of the hot tub as it was more exposed than our one we had in Norfolk, and was on the side of the chalet in view of a small road that led to the last few chalets - however our tub was more set back than others next to us and there was a short wooden fence, so you got used to it! There were always staff onsite so I got the impression that they are quite on top of maintenance. Somebody popped by daily to check on the hot tub so I feel like any issues would have been resolved. The location was great for visiting Nottingham and Rufford Abbey and there was enough to do for a mini break. The surrounding woodland provided a nice walk and a few chickens, and there was a swimming pool onsite too. If you're after a less intense Centre Parcs stay at a much cheaper cost I would recommend Sherwood Castle. We would definitely return.
