I’ve been using the gym for the best part of 30 years. Like me the place has decayed over time. The treadmills are the same ones I ran on all those years ago. Not only are they so outdated compared with modern ones but they are filthy and rusty with years of sweat. When I started there were actual staff who helped people train and made sure that the public were safe but now the only time male staff members enter the area is if there is a young woman training that they can ‘chat’ with. People train in their outdoor coats and shoes. Personal hygiene is often an issue. There is no gym etiquette - people sit chatting on equipment for literally ages or play on their phones. . The music played is non inclusive - rap music and continuous Radio 1 Xtra drivel when the clientele are often mostly well into their 50s. Now I’m a pensioner and I still pay a fortune to go 2/3 times a week - I wonder why I don’t go somewhere else - but I’m trapped by convenience and the lure of Tesco. If you ever want a microcosm of all that’s decayed in modern England this is the place to go.

Every time it' getting worse and worse. In the past it was great swimming pool with slides for all ages. Now only one slide left for older kids. Hair dryers not working (there is one available in reception).
