⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ One of the best campgrounds near Perth – clean, quiet, and perfect for beginners or seasoned campers! We stayed at Discovery Hill Campground in Beelu National Park and were blown away by how well-maintained, peaceful, and comfortable it was. It’s just under an hour from Perth, but you feel like you’ve completely escaped into the bush. 🛁 Facilities are excellent – hot showers, clean long-drop toilets, and drinking water available on-site. 🍳 The communal kitchen is fantastic – two gas barbecues, a sink with running water, fridge, prep benches, and plenty of space to cook and relax. 🔥 Fire pits are everywhere! Almost every corner of the site has one, and they’re perfect for cold nights (check fire season restrictions). 📶 Strong 5G signal throughout the area – we were surprised how good the internet was for such a remote-feeling location! The campground is surrounded by jarrah and marri trees, giving it a true bush feel. We saw kangaroos at sunrise and heard kookaburras every morning. It’s incredibly peaceful and spacious, with well-separated sites for privacy. If you’re new to camping and want to try it out before investing in gear or heading somewhere remote, this is the ideal beginner-friendly location. You still get the full outdoor experience but with comforts that make it easy and enjoyable. 🙌 Also, make sure to say hello to Mark, the campground caretaker – he’s a legend! Friendly, helpful, and keeps everything running smoothly. He even gave us tips on the best walking trails. 🥾 Walking and hiking options nearby are amazing: • A short walk from the campground leads to Lake O’Connor, with stunning views over the hills and plenty of birdlife. • You’re right near parts of the Bibbulmun Track – you can do day hikes to Kalamunda, or even link up with longer trails toward Albany. • There are also short loop trails around the park if you’re just after a gentle walk. This place is a real gem for solo campers, couples, and families alike. Peaceful nights, starry skies, friendly vibe, and a great mix of nature and convenience. We saw kangaroos at dawn, enjoyed bushwalks during the day, and had a peaceful night under the stars. Whether you’re a family, a solo adventurer, or a first-time camper looking to try it out, Discovery Hill is a hidden gem. We’ll definitely be back!

Although I am not a fan of this campsite, I will give credit where it’s due. Great for camping if you have kids or little ones and it’s just up the road from the Mundaring Weir Hotel, CY O’Connor lookout and the Dam. Plus no park fees payable except for camping fees. Showers and toilets available as well as a camp kitchen with fridge! Campsites 1 to 8 are better as they look out toward the trees although sites 7 and 8 are close to the camp kitchen. Don’t rely on the mud map on the website, it is really not to scale! We were on site 11 and site 10 was literally less than 5 steps away from us. Use the lookout near the campsite (on mud map) for a nice brekky area if the camp kitchen gets too crowded. Campground backs onto the Bib Track so it’s convenient for walkers and hikers. There are camp hosts there in the caravan at the entrance to sign you in and they have a trolley to help you move your camping gear to your site. There is absolutely no drive through for vehicles. I found this campsite nice but not private enough but may return to short one or two night stays and NOT during the school holidays! That being said the campers were pretty considerate when we were there and all was pretty much silent around 9.40pm but this could be our unique experience so don’t rely fully on it! :)
