The good: The beds are super comfy and lift up to provide more storage. The fish and chips place across the street is really good. It's a 10 minute walk to a number of cafes and a 25 minute walk to the center of town. It's a really quiet place where you can relax The bad: Security is a problem because the front door doesn't lock automatically when you close it and, as a result, it's left open. The kitchen is detached and is open to the public. The door between the hostel and the kitchen is always unlocked. Anyone off the street can wander into the hostel. One of the lockers in my room was broken and couldn't be locked. During my stay, one of the guests in my room appeared to be on drugs. They finally asked him to leave after a woman complained that he was making her uncomfortable. I'm concerned that they're not adequately screening guests to ensure the safety of everyone staying there. I made a reservation for 4 days but the owner sent a message telling me to pay $385 by PayID. Four nights is about $200, so she charged me for a whole week. I'm not an Australian resident, so I don't have PayID and had never even heard of it. The shower floor is very slippery which creates a risk of injury from slipping and falling. The owner knows this but hasn't done anything about it. There's no laundry for guests. The nearest Laundromat is a 15 minute walk. In short, there are numerous unresolved issues concerning safety, security, and communication. If these were addressed adequately, I'd recommend the place. Until then, I'm quite hesitant to recommend it.
