The public toilets at Coogee Beach are clean, well-maintained, and conveniently located near the main areas of the beach. It’s great to have easy access to facilities, especially during busy weekends or after a swim. So mi float into dis Perth place, fresh off di turquoise sea pon mi loyal unicorn steed—me an’ him, searchin’ fi di hotel for some comfort, an’ a hot shower after a few salty days on di ocean. Mi spot dis small but tidy structure right dere pon di shoreline. It have clean lines, a roof, an’ two doors—exactly what mi imagine a minimalist beach hotel would look like in Australia. Mi smile an’ seh, “A likkle boutique spot. Quiet. Peaceful. Dem really know how fi treat a Jamaican king right.” Mi walk in, unicorn over mi shoulder, expectin’ a warm welcome an’ maybe a mint on di pillow. But mi quickly realise… mi hotel got no lobby. No bed. Not even a receptionist, unless yuh count di man brushin’ him teeth by di sink. Mi seh, “Hold up now… where di room service? Where mi key?” Mi open one door, an’ it smell... strong. Mi open di next door, an’ cold wata start pour from a silver pipe straight outta di wall. Mi seh, “Mi guess dis di spa section!” Mi brave it anyway—mi rinse off under di icy stream, feelin’ mi soul leave mi body an’ float back to Kingston. An’ right den, a sign fall off di door sayin’: ‘Public Toilet & Showers – City of Perth.’ Mi seh, “Lawd Gad, mi jus’ bathe inna di outhouse!” But mi cyaan lie… di tiles was clean, di wata pressure was righteous, an’ dat breeze comin’ off di ocean made mi feel like royalty—even if it was di kind of royalty who get changed outside next to a bin. So mi give it four stars—lost one star ‘cause it wasn’t a real hotel, but big up to di Perth city council for di free cold shower an’ unexpected cultural experience. Note to travellers: Not every building by di beach wid two doors is a beachfront resort. Sometime it’s just where di locals handle their bidness. 🦄🚿🇦🇺✨ One love, one rinse, one unexpected holiday.
