I regret writing this negative review of the gym because I love going there. Lovely seaside location with large windows over looking the bay. However, I have complained about the condition of the women's toilets for YEARS and nothing has been done to address ill fitting toilet seats and general filth and disrepair. The toilet in the gym area is often clogged, smelly and without amenities. This is despite spending a fortune on renovating vast areas of the gym and buying countless more weights for yet more focus on lifting. Hygiene continues to be a problem overall and methods of cleaning the equipment are primitive and often scant. I fault the management for neglecting women's needs in general and the neglect borders on disrespect. My membership is $1200 per year. Don't let this gym go under. It is wonderful in potential but lacking in management.

I’ve been a member at South Pacific St Kilda for only a short time, and unfortunately my experience has been consistently poor from the very beginning. The facilities and the service both fell well below the standard you would expect from a gym at this price point. To start with, the cleanliness of the pool area and male changing rooms is unacceptable. The pool has repeatedly appeared unclean, and the changing room almost always has a strong, unpleasant smell. On several occasions I noticed dead flies left in the lockers, which is clearly a sign that basic cleaning and hygiene standards aren’t being met. We then experienced problems with our access cards being locked without any explanation. My partner entered with their card, held the door for me, and I tapped myself in as well. Apparently this isn’t allowed, something to do with a strict “one person at a time through the door after it closes” policy. Yet none of this was ever communicated to us during sign-up or induction. We only found out after emailing management, who informed us of the rule after the fact. Even after that, the access for one of us still didn’t work properly, leaving us stuck in a loop of back-and-forth with no resolution. The attitude and experience level of the front desk staff also left a lot to be desired. Each time we tried to get help in person, the staff seemed unsure of procedures, unable to fix issues, and generally not very helpful. There’s a noticeable lack of training or support for them, which unfortunately spills onto customers. Finally, and most frustratingly, we followed the official cancellation procedure through their online portal over a week ago, visited the gym in person to follow up, and emailed both the main inbox and the manager. We’ve had no response whatsoever. For a gym that stresses policies and procedures so heavily, they don’t seem able to follow their own when it comes to processing cancellations. Overall, this has been one of the poorest gym experiences I’ve ever had. Unclean facilities, inconsistent access, unhelpful staff, and a complete lack of communication from management. I’m still waiting for confirmation of my cancellation, and at this point I’m extremely unimpressed. I hope they take this feedback seriously and improve things for future members.
