The location is great — it’s within the city and tram access is convenient. I stayed for only one night and expected a basic hotel, but even with that in mind, some budget hotels are cleaner and more organized than this one. There were no tables or chairs in the room to work on a laptop. If you go to the pantry area on Level 1, there are tables, but the Wi-Fi there is very slow. The coffee machine also wasn’t working during my stay. Hope the Wifi connection improves. They do have a laundry area on Level 1, but two out of the four machines were out of order. The reception staff weren’t particularly friendly — the interaction felt cold and purely transactional. The flooring throughout the hotel is wood, so you’ll hear some creaking sounds. Also, if you have luggage and need to book an Uber, you can’t wait directly in front of the hotel. You’ll need to walk to a nearby lane where cars are allowed to stop, such as Little Collins Street. Overall, it’s a budget hotel, and you only get the most basic amenities.

Our family had 3 rooms at the Ibis Budget Melbourne CBD from 20/11 till 26/11. Front desk personnel were friendly, attentive and as accommodating as they could be. Housekeeping was alright for the first few days and then they totally slacked, not replacing towels and the wet floor mat by the bathroom. Since the bathroom (shower stall actually) didn't have a proper door, the floor and carpet by the sink was perpetually wet. Air conditioner in all 3 rooms were old and noisy. Hotel really needs a bit of work, and then it would be perfect. On the plus side, the location is amazing. The lane behind the hotel has very good food (Mork Chocolate, a banh mi shop, a bagel shop, ... all good). Block Arcade across the road, Queen Vic Market and lots of malls nearby. The tram stops in front of the hotel and you can travel within the CBD for free.
