Doherty's Gym City

Great, great gym in Melbourne CBD. I dropped in on a Friday morning to get some training done during my long weekend visit. I got a casual pass, which was easy to do. Staff were friendly, helpful, and approachable. Amenities were clean, spacious, and bright. The equipment and space throughout were all top notch. As a powerlifter I was impressed by the specialised equipment on hand- rogue and eleiko bars and plates, plenty of excellent racks, benches, and platforms. Body builders would be happy here too though with plenty of dbs, lots of equipment, and reminders of visits from Coleman and Schwarzenegger. Super interesting architecture also being in the banana alley vaults/ viaduct buildings with trains going overhead. 10/10 would recommend and I'll be visiting again when I'm next in town

Gym is generally good with lots of different equipment. Rarely have to wait for someone to finish (especially if youre training legs), but sometimes can be a short wait for barbell bench press. Crowd can be a bit annoying during certain hours with meathead roided bros trying to draw attention to themselves or kids vaping when you're puffing in your workout. My main complaint is with hygiene. There's never soap in the toilets. Ive brought it up a few times with reception but it seems to be an ongoing issue. Also if you workout on the equipment next to the toilets it smells pretty gross. Otherwise it's a fine gym, convenient and 24/7.
