The Clark Shields Pavilion which adjoins with the David Mandie Pavilion, at Albert Park, with the Gary Smorgan Oval (Oval 9) on one side and the Lindsay Hassett Oval (Oval 11) on the other, is located at Aughtie Drive directly opposite Fraser St Light Rail stop. The pavilion was named after Clarke Shields, a former South Melbourne District Football Club player. On the ground floor the Pavilion has both Home and Away change rooms each with showers and toilets (4 change-rooms including juniors’ and women’s facilities), male and female public toilets, disabled access and amenities, and a kitchen/kiosk with store room. On the first floor there are umpires and coaches rooms, a committee room, a club room/social area, a meeting room, Education and Training area, toilets and kitchen. The Pavilion is fitted with a solar hot water panel roof. There is only limited parking at the pavilion itself and while roadside parking is available, it can be difficult to find a spot during busy times when events are also taking place at the other adjacent sports grounds. You also need to be aware that parking fees apply to all marked bays and roadside parking throughout Albert Park. While all profits raised from parking are put back into Albert Park, which is a good thing, another option might be to park along Canterbury Road opposite Fraser Street, which is only a few minutes away, and walk across the Light Rail. The Clark Shields Pavilion is the home of the South Melbourne District Sports club which offers a wide range of sports throughout the year to suit all ages from kinder to seniors, including Milo in2Circket for girls and boys aged 5 to 8, AFL Auskick for children aged 5 to 12, Junior Cricket, Junior Football, Women's and Men's Football, Little Athletics and Senior Athletics.
