I visited Bay Park Scout Camp in April 2024 when Melbourne Survivor booked it out to film the fifth season of their YouTube series. We had the camp from Friday through to Sunday, using the space to set up and film the game. Across the weekend, we had around 25–30 people coming and going to help organise everything, with most of our crew staying on site. The accommodation included four rooms of bunk beds, with about four bunks per room (sleeping up to eight). The beds were typically hard, as you’d expect at camp, but we brought our own bedding to make them more comfortable as no bedding is provided just a mattress. The toilet and shower block at the end of the main building had lacklustre water pressure but at least stayed hot for quite a while. The kitchen was a real highlight, large and well stocked with crockery, perfect for catering events or cooking up a feast. We catered for ourselves and stocked up supplies from the Woolworths just 15 minutes down the road. Adjoining the kitchen is a spacious mess hall with lino flooring, plus a large carpeted room we used for challenge equipment and a smaller office we turned into a data room to process footage. This setup worked brilliantly for us, especially with the multiple entrances and exits that helped with all the player and crew movements for the game. There’s also a cute courtyard at the front of the main building which was a lovely spot to hang out. The lake next to the main building was great for water based challenges, although the water was quite murky (as you’d expect) and probably not the best for swimming. There’s so much to do on site, including an archery range, volleyball court, go-kart track, large stage, oval, and plenty of other areas that we made use of for challenges. The old machinery (including an old train) added a really cool vibe to the space. Each tribe was also able to light their own fires at designated fire pits and cook rice and lentils, just like in the show. The owners and staff were lovely and accessible during the day at the small house near the entry. They keep the site in good condition, with plenty of activities available. Although the camp is mostly used by Scouts, it can be hired out when not in use. Being in Mount Martha, it’s a bit of a trek from Melbourne, but it’s a great spot to escape the city for a camp style weekend. The nearby town of Mount Martha is handy too, so you’re not far from civilisation if you need anything. I really enjoyed filming here and loved the location, it truly helped us bring the game to life, and I can’t wait to see how it all comes together on the Melbourne Survivor YouTube channel. While a few areas of the main building could do with a bit of love and some upgrades, overall, the space was fantastic. I’d definitely recommend Bay Park Scout Camp to anyone looking to run outdoor activities with large groups, it’s a great place to book, and I hope more people take the chance to get out of the city and have a fun time at Mount Martha.

An excellent camp location. Close to the beach, nice views of the bay and plenty of space to camp. Lots of amenities and facilities and a few obstacles course as well. A great place to send your kids too or go there yourself with the family
