Right, so, picture this: me, a bloke who thinks a "facial" involves shaving, walks into Lavada. Expected a room with a table and some scented oil. Got something that looked like a spaceship designed by a fancy perfume bottle. This place is swanky. Like, "I wear silk pajamas to bed" swanky. I'm sitting there in my shorts, feeling like I've accidentally wandered into a Vogue photoshoot. The air smells like a garden exploded in a good way, and the decor? Mate, it's like a minimalist's wet dream. Then the massage. Turns out, they know what they're doing. Knotted me up like a pretzel, and untangled me like a magician with a rope trick. Honestly, I reckon this place is basically a feminist utopia. They've got the whole "pamper yourself" thing down to a science. Me? I was just happy to get a decent back rub without smelling like a locker room afterwards. If you're a lady who likes nice things, or even a bloke who accidentally stumbled into a high-end cloud, Lavada's worth a visit. 5 out of 5, would recommend, even if you're just there to figure out what all those fancy smells are.

I chose LAVADA completely at random during my visit to Hobart. I found the online booking service was very easy. As soon as I walked in, surveyed the reception desk and met Michelle I was immediately confident that I was in for a truly positive experience. The rooms all have solid walls and doorways making for a completely individual treatment. No noise or interference from anything outside the room. Sooooo important. I travel around Australia full time in my caravan with barely any access to a bath or luxury bathroom facilities so I decided to go all out and have the Detox Spa Journey at $399. My spa session with Michelle was truly amazing. And I mean that sincerely. She was so attentive, caring and gentle. Which was imperative after my leg surgery last month. I couldn’t have randomly chosen a better therapist if I tried. (no reflection on the other staff) After being sublimely exfoliated then wrapped in a clay cocoon during a deeply relaxing head massage, Michelle remained in the room just outside the shower making sure that I was safe and didn’t get too wobbly with my new knee (I use a walking stick). This clearly illustrated to me an exceptional level of caring over and above the usual for me as a client. The products used during the entire process including the one hour moisturising massage were excellent. I felt extremely soft skinned and smooth. On completion of my treatment I felt calm, relaxed and light as a feather. Michelle’s attention to me as a client was nothing short of perfect. As someone who has had 100s of massages and dozens of spa visits over the last 30 years I found this experience absolutely faultless. Michelle is a client-centred professional and definitely a person who is particularly suited to her career as a spa therapist. I could not have been more delighted with my time at LAVADA and would recommend this establishment to anyone looking for a personal and professional, heavenly spa experience.
