Bakers Point

One of my favourite camps in tassie - only thing to warn about is the terrible dirt road leading down to Bakers Point. No matter how many times I’ve visited, the corrugation is so bad that I have to crawl along at 20km/hr (note I am in a campervan) so just keep that in mind. Nice & quiet in winter. Packed in summer. Industrial bins available at exit. Maintained drop toilets. Tank water. Dump point. Maybe around 20 sites available. River nice for swimming in summer. Unpowered sites ($13/n tickets from reception hut at entrance). Lots of wildlife so please respect their habitat 💕

Top spot. Enjoyable camping area close to the water. Toilets, hybrid. Showers back near ranger's kiosk. Token operated. $2 A token. 1 token was enough to shower and wash my hair. Toilets stink. Oh well, can't have everything. Rain water available on tap. Can have campfires in season in the fireplaces provided, as long as you bring your own firewood. $13 A night for two people. $16 A night if you want power. Powered sites are near the ranger's kiosk and showers. The toilets are flush toilets here too. Skips for rubbish, and black water dumping points. Plenty of wildlife, although wombats are scarce on the ground now due to the mange. A pretty good deal all round. Please stick to the speed limits though.
