We absolutely loved our visit to Granite Island! It’s such a beautiful and unique place with stunning coastal views all the way around. The walk across the causeway is really special, especially if you’re lucky enough to see the horse-drawn tram in action — it adds so much charm. The island’s walking trail is easy to follow and offers amazing scenery — dramatic cliffs, interesting rock formations, and plenty of spots to stop and take photos. We enjoyed watching the waves crash against the rocks and even spotted some seals swimming nearby! It’s also great to know that Granite Island is home to a little penguin colony — even though they’re shy during the day, it’s lovely to see how much care goes into protecting them. The facilities are basic but good, with a café and information signs along the track. I’d recommend wearing comfy shoes and bringing a jacket — it can get windy! Granite Island is a must-visit if you’re in Victor Harbor — a perfect mix of nature, wildlife, and local history. We can’t wait to come back!
