Tried out Goodlife Community Centre recently and it has a lot going for it. The location is great, the staff are genuinely friendly, and there’s plenty of parking. But there are a couple of things that would stop me from joining unless they change. The afternoon/evening hours for the gym and pools are too limited for anyone who works a normal 9–5 job and wants to come in after work. Not everyone wants to train or swim in the morning before work. If both the pools and the gym were open until at least 8pm, people would be able to get in a workout and a swim after work. The other issue is the undercover pool, which only seems to be available for classes (not general swimming or doing laps). This is especially an issue during the day, when the uncovered pool is fully exposed to the sun. Some people want shade so they don’t get fried while swimming. If the centre extended its evening hours and opened up the undercover pool for general/lap swimming, it would be a much more practical option. Until then, I probably wouldn’t sign up.
