Receptionist was friendly and welcoming. That was the only positive. While I understand what you pay is what you get, we did have an affordable economy cabin for 1 night. It was the only accomodation left in Townsville for the Footy Game so it was nice to be accommodated for during a period of high occupancy. Upon check in we did overhear that they are fully booked as to why we didn’t come to the desk and report the issues. However I think despite what you are paying whether it’s a cheap rate or a high, standards should have been higher. It was clear the room wasn’t or was poorly inspected prior our check in. The aircon cover cover was hanging off and we were hit with a strong smell of mildew and mold. The sheets were covered in marks whilst I understand myself working in hotel industry, rejects are common in linen orders. It really made me question the way both sheets were marked and not replaced with a clean one. When I made the bed I discovered that the fleece blankets had multiple grubby marks and stains on them. The sheets were fine for 1 night. However upon looking just casually around the room the walls were filthy and covered in stains. Something that would be very obvious to spot clean. The moldy aircon, marked sheets and dirty walls certainly made the cabin feel even more dirty and uncomfortable. The dated kitchen and other items are not an issue as we didn’t really care and understand. The air con made a noisy rattling sound all night, the mattresses did not have mattress protectors either. It was quite possibly the worst sleep I’ve ever had. I also suffer from an auto-immune disease and if I were staying more than 1 night I certainly would have to leave. The public amenities were quite unkept and very dirty, whilst we also understand this is a public area and couldn’t not be cleaned every hour of every day. It felt dirty enough that I did not want to step back inside. We thank the staff for their friendliness and being able to accomodate us and hope some changes in the cleanliness of cabin 12 can be made for future guests. Can’t say we would return but would recommend booking a higher rate room for your stay.
