Nice modern hostel, seems to have been recently renovated or at least kept very clean. Toilets and showers were good. Kitchen area was clean and had everything you need. Was woken up at 3am by some people coming back loudly but part and parcel of staying in a hostel.

To start, when booking this capsule hostel it was not our first choice but we had no other affordable options in the Gold Coast. We were apprehensive before arriving at this hostel and after staying 4 nights (too long) it was not for us, we would never do it again. Hated it. To sum up its pros: - Breakfast included + occasional free dinner - Plenty of bathrooms and showers to use, the kitchen was also big and easy to work around others when cooking. - Location was decent, close to the tram. However we specifically didn't like the following: - Not couple friendly. - The showers have flies, disgusting. - The room for two people was tiny, there was barely any room to move or organise your belongings at the same time without hitting each other. - There is barely any storage spaces in the "private" room, they give you two pull out boxes under the bed. But no real room to house your suitcases or backpacks. Their suggestions is to leave it in a storage luggage area (a disorderly "pile") under CCTV, that is next to the 130 person pod. We didn't feel comfortable doing so. - Sleeping was challenging, I still feel tired writing this review. It's important to note, the private rooms you can book are joined next to the 130 capsules, which we didn't realise until we paid and arrived. People are very inconsiderate, taking phone calls in the corridor, watching videos without headphones after 10pm. As well as this, as you're practically in one massive room (separated by plywood walls) you share a floor and can hear everyone stomping past, causing the bunk beds to shake. - Once again as you're in a massive room, the lights in the day are dim and we couldn't see anything even with the tiny clip on lights provided in the bunk beds. At night the lights remained on and our bunks lacked curtains so it was very hard to sleep without lights shining in our faces. - There's no aircon, just several massive fans in the massive room of 130 pods. Weirdly I woke up freezing in Australia... in summer. They gave us no blankets just a sheet and around 3-5am I would consistently wake up shaking from being so cold. - As short stay travellers it was hard to gauge who was staff and who was there as a guest. Multiple people we thought were like us just staying for a short time, we ended up seeing cleaning around the hostel. It didn't feel like a traveller hostel. - The long stay guests seem to treat the hostel like their own home, putting music videos like Ibiza Beats with an AI bunny on. a throne at 8am on the telly. Weird. It just didn't make you feel like you could sit down anywhere, instead more like you were in someone else's living room. - I overheard an inappropriate, stereotypical "mens locker room chat" in the kitchen (a common room) by what I thought was a guest but turned out to be a member of staff. As a female traveller it made me feel quite icky that I was sleeping at this hostel. Fundamentally, our main issue with this hostel is that we felt misled about the description of the room advertised. They stated it would be a private room with a shared bathroom, and our room had no ceiling. When you say a room is private the assumption is that the room is private in all 3 dimensions INCLUDING THE CEILING. Minus the shackles this is what I imagine Swedish prison to be like, they even summon you on the tannoy for your dinner on Weds/Sat. We do not understand how this hostel got a HOSCAR or a 4.8 google review. Either we must be snobs or everyone else is just delusional.
