The original West Pymble pool opened back in 1971, but this fully-blown aquatic centre revamp is less than 10 years old. And the Y Ku-ring-gai Fitness and Aquatic Centre has all the things! Two heated indoor pools, a 50 metre outdoor pool and shaded outdoor kid’s pool, water play features, gym, crèche, indoor and outdoor showers, cafe and more, in a well-designed modern complex set amongst the beautiful bushland of the Bicentennial Park. It’s very fancy, as you’d expect in the well-heeled enclave of privilege that is Pymble, with loads of free parking, brush turkeys wandering around poolside and the most North Shore language ever used in their signage… skip to the last photo to see what we mean.

The change rooms are always water logged, stinky and sodden. For the amount of space that this facility has, there should be “wet & dry” change rooms. Too few spin bikes, no mirrors in the studio, how does anyone correct bad posture if you can’t see what you’re doing? Generally not the friendliest gym I’ve ever being too.
