I love that the motor inn as a style of accommodation hasn’t died, and is having a revival. Impressed by the fresh exterior, unfortunately that’s where the positives end. I am easily pleased. All I need is a hot shower, a comfy bed and a tv. Quite pricey, I expected much more than this place offered. At reception, I was told to shower with door closed as to not set fire alarm off, when it would be very easy to install an exhaust fan to the window. Almost a nice view of the escarpment but three cranes are surrounding this place. A weeknight stay would be absolute hell as I’ve no doubt how noisy all that construction would be from 7am. The mattress was actually horrendous. Very very old spring mattress with a tatty old mattress cover. Lumpy pillows. Room is small but that didn’t concern me too much. It was also very noisy. Constant noise from the highway, and drunks at 330am, a teenage football team up early stinking up the place with lynx Africa 😮💨 Please if you can do one thing to improve this place, get new mattresses. Having now read the reviews I know a 20 year old mattress got plenty of use ‘by the hour’. If I were to stay in the Illawarra again, I would take my chances at another motor inn or fork out the extra to stay at the mantra.

Rooms are clean and tidy. Very good showers. In-house restaurant really good.
