Summer House Sydney City

I would like to start off and say that I have been to hostels over the world in Morocco, Madrid, Amsterdam, Cairns, etc. I have always found anything above an 8 star rating on Hostelworld to be very reliable which it typically is. However, that is totally inaccurate for when it comes to this place. I will say that the location is unbeatable, the bed is nice and it is very affordable. With that being said, you get what you pay for. I have never stayed in a hostel where the hallways consistently smell disgusting and the bathrooms are so disgusting. There’s approximately 30-35 people sharing two bathrooms on a floor. There’s no soap for the hostel shower and one night I witnessed a ball of pubes on the soap rack. I completely avoided using the restrooms here and would use them whenever I go out to restaurants. I would HIGHLY recommend paying even up to $20AUD more a night to stay somewhere better. I wish I would have.

I had a great stay here! The hostel is really nice and it’s super easy to make friends thanks to the events they organize and the friendly, inclusive atmosphere. The bathrooms are clean most of the time, with several cleaning shifts during the day. They’re not very big and could use a bit more space to put your things, but it’s not a big issue. The beds are a little small but still comfortable, and the lockers offer plenty of storage space. Overall, a very good experience — I would definitely stay here again!
