Fitness First Newtown

Update. So the incompetent management at this gym *closes the mens showers completely for 3 days* to regrout tiles. In a competently managed gym the showers would be regrouted in sequence so that some always remained open. Not at this gym. Of course this is when the steam room has already been out of action for weeks. Clearly the stupidity of FF & the appalling management of Newtown Fitness First knows no bounds. Perhaps the worst maintained FF gym in the entirety of Sydney. Disgusting actually. Just a sample of lockers, toilets out of order. Plus their claim that the gym is 24hrs is a total sham. Friday afternoon at 5pm & saunas are locked because no staff rostered & gym users are expected to enter & exit the gym via filthy fire stairs. And they actively advise against using lockers when reception is unstaffed (which is most of the time) so good luck with your wallet, keys & any valuables! Save your money & go elsewhere. Almost any gym in Newtown is better than this dump.

I’m disappointed that the sauna and steam room close as early as 4pm on Fridays, 12pm on weekends, and not much later on other weekdays. While the gym is open 24/7, these facilities aren’t, which was unexpected. Compared to other Fitness First gyms in the Eastern Suburbs, Newtown is the only one with such limited staffed hours for the sauna and steam room. It’s a bit frustrating, misleading and doesn’t quite align with what I expected, given their promise to provide innovative, accessible fitness solutions. Update: Thanks for getting back to me. While I appreciate the response, it doesn’t fully address the core issue. Saying “we’ll pass it on” doesn’t really help members who pay full price but only have limited access to key facilities like the sauna and steam room. At this membership level, recovery amenities shouldn’t be limited to narrow staffed hours - especially when they’re part of what’s advertised. Suggesting members visit other clubs feels like shifting the problem rather than solving it. I’m simply asking for fair access to the facilities included in my membership. The current setup doesn’t reflect great value, and I hope this feedback leads to meaningful improvements.
