I visited Endota Spa Terrigal on a Sunday morning and wanted to share a balanced reflection of my experience. On a positive note, I was pleasantly surprised to find a parking spot right out the front, which is rare, especially on a weekend. As I walked into the spa, there was a subtle, pleasant scent that set an initially welcoming tone. Having visited many high-end day spas over the years, I did notice a few things that fell short of what I’ve come to expect. The atmosphere wasn’t as tranquil or peaceful as it could have been — the lighting in the treatment room wasn’t particularly dim, and there was notable noise from hotel guests and traffic outside. These distractions made it difficult to fully relax. In other spas, I’ve been used to being gently ushered into a quiet space before treatment, offered a robe, slippers, a warm towel, and a calm area to sit with tea and light snacks. On this occasion, I was taken directly to the room and asked to undress and get straight onto the table. I also noticed that the face rest cover appeared to have make-up residue on it, which raised some questions about hygiene and attention to detail. The massage itself was satisfactory — it may suit some people’s preferences, though it wasn’t the best I’ve had. The ambient noise and brightness also made it difficult to fully switch off. The face mask also wasn't what I was expecting. I thought it would be brushed on and left to set, but instead it was like one of the cheap paper ones you'd get from a pharmacy. It didn't feel indulgent at all. When the treatment ended, I felt a little rushed as I was only halfway dressed when there was a knock at the door. Checking out was also less relaxing than expected, as the front desk staff seemed to be caught up in conversation about a colleague, which came across as unprofessional. It reminded me of the kind of workplace chatter most of us are trying to escape when we visit a spa. Perhaps the biggest disappointment was finding out that access to the hotel facilities — particularly the sauna, steam room, and pool — is no longer offered on weekends with a spa booking. That amenity used to be a highlight and was one of the main reasons I booked. I was told pool access is now only available on weekdays. While there were some positive touches, overall the experience fell short of what I’d hoped for. I don’t think I will return to Endota Spa Terrigal, but I will happily go back to the spa at Magenta Shores, which offers a more consistent sense of relaxation and care.
