Camp Shortland

Camp Shortland is a public green space with free BBQS, hot showers, toilets and parking. Popular with families and exercise groups, the area has interesting historical monuments and plaques, commemorating European invasion and Aboriginal Ownership dating back 20,000 years. Situated between the Newcastle harbour and Nobbys beach, and horseshoe beach, there’s a patch of green grass to enjoy a picnic. Plenty of bird life exists here too. Recommended 10/10

Nobbys is a great beach, good parking etc.. however there is a complete absence of change room facilities and the toilets are substandard. At the same time it appears an inordinate amount of of space has been given over to the Surf Club for private functions. I think that this was all part of the original deal negotiated with Super Cars by Newcastle Council I guess amenities for the general public are not their high priority.
